When you search for a therapist, trust matters. You want to know that the person you are about to
work with is properly trained, professional, and working to a clear standard. This page explains
exactly how therapists come to be listed on the Hypno-CBT® Directory, and what that means for you.

The Hypno-CBT® College Diploma
Every therapist on this directory has successfully completed the Hypno-CBT® Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, awarded through the Hypno-CBT® College (formerly The UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy), a division of Mindease Limited.
The Diploma is awarded as an NCFE Customised Qualification at Level 5. NCFE is recognised as an awarding organisation by national qualification regulators, including: Ofqual (England), Qualifications Wales, CCEA Regulation (Northern Ireland). It represents a substantial and rigorous programme of study, combining theoretical knowledge with supervised practical training.

What the Training Covers
The Hypno-CBT® Diploma is built around an integrative approach to psychotherapy. Graduates develop expertise across the following areas:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — the foundations of evidence-based talking therapy, including thought and behaviour change techniques
- Hypnosis — how to guide clients into a focused, relaxed state and use this to support therapeutic goals
- Mindfulness and relaxation skills — practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation
- Client assessment and case formulation — how to understand a client’s situation and plan a course of therapy
- The Hypno-CBT® toolbox — a suite of over 35 evidence-informed interventions tailored to individual needs
- Ethics and professional conduct — how to work safely, transparently, and within appropriate boundaries
- Supervised practice hours — working with real clients under the guidance of experienced supervisors
The course has been developed and refined over many years under the leadership of Mark R. Davis, Director and Principal of the Hypno-CBT® College, and draws on a strong foundation in psychological research and evidence-based practice.

What Therapists Are Required to Hold
Before a therapist can list on the Hypno-CBT® Directory, we require evidence of the following:
- Completion of the Hypno-CBT® Diploma
- Valid professional indemnity insurance
- Membership of an appropriate professional body
Therapists operate as independent practitioners. They are not employees of the Hypno-CBT® College or of the directory. Each therapist runs their own practice and is responsible for their own professional conduct.

What We Verify
We verify that therapists have completed the Hypno-CBT® Diploma and hold the required insurance and memberships at the point of listing. We do not continuously monitor changes to a therapist’s circumstances after listing.
Profile information is provided by the therapist themselves. While we take steps to confirm the above at the point of joining, we recommend you take the following steps before booking your first appointment.
What to Ask Before You Book
We recommend asking your chosen therapist the following before committing to sessions:
- Can I see a copy of your Hypno-CBT® Diploma certificate?
- Are you a member of a recognised professional body? Which one?
- Do you hold valid professional indemnity insurance?
- Do you offer a free initial consultation? (All therapists listed here do.)
- What are your fees, cancellation policy, and terms?

What We Do Not Guarantee
Listing on the Hypno-CBT® Directory is not an endorsement of any individual therapist’s conduct, therapeutic style, or outcomes. We do not certify the accuracy of all profile information, which is provided by therapists themselves, and we are not responsible for the content of individual therapist websites or promotional materials.
The directory is an informational listing. Any therapeutic relationship, contract, or financial arrangement is strictly between you and the therapist. We are not party to those agreements. Please read our Directory Terms and Governance for full details of our governance and complaints policy.
How to Raise a Concern
If you have reason to believe a therapist is misrepresenting their Hypno-CBT® credentials or is in breach of our directory standards, please contact us at support@ukhypnosis.com.
For clinical concerns or disputes about therapy itself, your first step should be to raise the matter directly with your therapist. If this does not resolve things, contact the professional body to which your therapist belongs, or their insurance provider. Details of both should be available on their profile.
